My Pretties!
It's been a long time since I posted pics of my books... I guess since we're 4 months into the year, I'll aim for quarterly posts regarding my book purchases in 2011.

I'm doing amazingly well restraint wise in comparison to my book purchasing ways in 2010. Since January I've only purchased and received the following books (most of which were bought with gift cards and or groupon deals): CITY OF FALLEN ANGELS (Mortal Instruments, Book 4) by Cassandra Clare, FIRE (Graceling, Book 2) by Kristin Cashore, I AM NUMBER FOUR by Pictorus Lore, INVINCIBLE: CHRONICLES OF NICK by Sherrilyn Kenyon, UNEARTHLY (Unearthly, Book 1) by Cynthia Hand, DEMONGLASS by Rachel Hawkins, TRAPPED by Michael Northrop, DARKEST MERCY (Wicked Lovely, Book 5) by Melissa Marr, HOUSE OF DARK SHADOWS (Dreamhouse Kings, Book 1) by Robert Liparulo, DAUGHTERS OF THE MOON, Vol. 2 by Lynne Ewing, DARKFEVER (Fever Series, Book 1) by Karen Marie Moning, and KITTY AND THE MIDNIGHT HOUR (Kitty Norville, Book 1) by Carrie Vaughn.

Of these books I've only read I AM NUMBER FOUR by Pictorus Lore, INVINCIBLE: CHRONICLES OF NICK by Sherrilyn Kenyon, DEMONGLASS by Rachel Hawkins, and TRAPPED by Michael Northrop so far, but that's because I've also been reading books from the 40+ I received for Christmas.

I'm amazed at how much restraint I've grown over the last year in comparison to buying books the way I was back in 2010, but with as many as there are existing in my to-be-read pile already the guilt in buying more when I *don't actually need them* has finally laid into me thick. Most of the books I plan to buy this year will be "must haves" and/or series continuations so that I don't overdo it spending wise, but I will report back in the next 4 months with what I've splurged on when it comes to books.

What books have you guys bought this year?

Peace - Sarah

I think after I finish The Mortal Instruments and the Daughters of the Moon series I plan to read the two Graceling books. I've heard nothing but awesome about both and that's why I went ahead and bought both. Hopefully I won't be let down.

As for your new books - I have that Zombies VS. Unicorns book in my wishlist and you're making me want it even more. I have a serious things for Unicorns especially and there just aren't enough of them in YA. I added that Mortal Kiss book to my wishlist too after seeing it on your LJ. You'll have to blab about how good it is!

I was doing ok from Jan-Feb with only 3 books purchased and the majority borrowed from the library. I bought "XVI" by Julia K., "The Latte Rebellion" by Sarah Jamila S., "The Great Wall of Lucy Wu" by Wendy Wan-Long Shang.
Then I came across a bunch of Steampunk novels and ... let's just say I got more than I've ever done buying books in the past. So feeling guilty from that purchase (6 books total) I'm on book buying ban.
Oh and I got the entire series of The Forest of Hands and Teeth.
o.O

XVI looks good and I was even more intrigued after seeing the author talk about it during the writers retreat. I have the first two books in the Forest of Hands and Teeth series too, but have only read the first. It was very good, but since they could be a standalone in a way I haven't felt completely compelled to read the second yet for some reason.

I totally understand your need to set a "ban" from buying more books. That's basically what 2010 has been about for me because I was seriously out of control in 2011. Good luck with that. Took me a while to really get it under what I think is a reasonable level of control.

What books have *I* bought this year? Wellll...you already know the answer to that, don't you? Two of 'em are in that pic you posted. XD

I'd almost forgotten how you bought KITTY AND THE MIDNIGHT HOUR! I absolutely adore that series. I read the first book back in high school. SO. GOOD. (Hopefully you'll feel the same way whenever you get around to reading it!)

And GO YOU for showing restraint! That can be soooo hard when books are involved....

Hehe, I've influenced several of your book purchases so far this year. That makes me giddy ;)

And I keep forgetting I even have that Kitty Norville book. I love that it's not terribly long. I should let that be my next quickie when I'm done all of these "planned readings."

Restraint with books... definitely hard. Thanks for the cheer leading!
